Ron Paul on CNN talking about the debate 5-16-07
Ron Paul came off very well by the end of the interview. But he's making a classic mistake. Just because he knows he's right (and he is), he assumes the truth will somehow prevail.
He has to learn from Kerry's mistakes (and Clinton's success) that you have to hit back against the GOP just as hard as you get hit, not simply smile and tell the truth when people misrepresent and refuse to listen.
He needs to point out that Guiliani did worse than not read the 911 report. Guiliani actively distorted it, feigned "outrage" on behalf of all "9/11 survivors," and completely misrepresented Paul's position, as did Fox and even CNN.
Guiliani's firm made $100M consulting on terrorism. If he doesn't even know what blowback is, he ought to refund his clients in full. He's clearly been giving them the wrong information all this time.
Claiming that Paul blames the American people is part of his clear pattern of "boogie-man" deception, claiming that if we elect the "wrong" people we will surely die.
Truth is, if we elect the _wrong_ people, we may soon be enslaved. But that's exactly what we're talking about under a Guiliani administration -- the illusion of safety through government oppression -- better to be safe than, you know, free.
If Paul can't hit back, he's not going to make it very far. If he doesn't define himself, Fox and friends will do it for him any way they please. And as we've seen, they're already calling him a Truther in the worst possible way.
But at least he's got 'em scared. That's a start. But he's got his work cut out for him. I wish him the best of luck.

Brilliant point click game!
Samorost2. I am contently being amazed by the awesomeness of some flash games that are out there on the web. If I had flash, and I knew how to code, and I was good at art I'd totally make some simple flash games. Maybe an RPG.

What could have been...
On a related note, I wonder if Bethesda can pull it off? (They probably can't.)

A good comment I found on digg from a person who found it on slashdot and now you found it on my blog. Odd.

An excellent comment I came across on slashdot regarding this whole HD DVD thing:
----------------------
While they can do what they want on their own site, it is more a matter of credibility than anything else right now. The whole revolt isn't even about the HD-DVD key. What has people feeling burnt is the fact that Digg purports to be about free and open user-driven content in a democratic setting, and what we're seeing here is a cabal of admins who are subverting the entire process of the system to suit their own whims.
Now as I said, it's not even about the 128-bit key anymore. And it's not about the DMCA or its merits(or lack thereof). The problem goes much deeper than that, and the encryption key debacle was more of a catalyst for what the more perceptive Diggers knew was going on all along but never really had any proof of. See, it's not just any posts containing the number they're removing. The Digg admins are removing and banning any discussion on the topic, even legitimate discussions on the ramifications of censorship in the user-driven internet era. Quite a few legitimate and thought-provoking discussions got clobbered when the admins got ban-happy today.
They have unwittingly set themselves up as a prime example of what can go wrong when marketing dollars(it is being reported that the HD-DVD guys throw ad dollars at Diggnation) meet the voice of the people. It is now being said that the Digg admins are stepping in and removing "objectionable" content when it conflicts with the will of their advertisers or displays any anti-Digg sentiment. While I'm sure this is good business sense, it's a very ugly way of being outed as a shill and a fraud to your readers. Digg is supposed to be the underdog who fought the status-quo and beat overwhelming odds against "the system". Now people are finding out that Digg has become the system, and they're a bit disillusioned that their hero Mr. Rose is just like any other business man who is out to make a buck. But like I said, the admins of Digg are obviously free to do with their site as they see fit. But Digg is only as good as the people who contribute to it. Kiss them good-bye and you kiss Digg good-bye.

DVD DRM row sparks user rebellion

Digguser revolt:
This YTMND sums up what the revolt was all about pretty nicely.
Basically there's this number:
Oops! Shit! Did I just post that???
And this number has something to do with HD-DVD encoding, it's used in it's DRM so people can't easily hack/rip HD-DVDs.... well.. it's been hacked, and as soon as it was hacked it was posted on Digg. Problem is, one of Digg's sponsers is HD-DVD so they were put between a rock and a hard place.... and were sent legal letters telling them to take that number off their website. Well, digg.com decided to comply but in doing so they censored their user base. Digg's user base is notorious for causing havoc across the internet and thus they promptly rained destruction onto digg by submitting that number endlessly. Basically digg.com was spamed to death by it's own users.
The story continues, but I've got to go to work. Later!

A beautiful thing happened today, I'll report it in full tomorrow after I've gotten some rest and the fighting on digg.com cools a bit. It was brilliant.
